31 Online Jobs that Pay Weekly with PayPal (Legitimate)
Sometimes you need extra money, and you need it yesterday. Fortunately, many jobs can be done remotely nowadays, which makes it easier to pick up a part-time gig on the side of your regular job. So I’ve created a big list of online jobs that pay weekly, most of them with PayPal.
Fair warning: Many work-from-home gigs, while they may be legitimate, pay on the lower end of the spectrum, and you most likely won’t earn $1,000 a week right away working online. That’s just the nature of content mills and gig work. That’s why I recommend pitching your services to private clients as soon as possible so you can have more say in the rates you earn.
Still, it can be helpful to have a side hustle while you build your freelance business on the side, and that’s what this list is all about.

Transcription jobs that pay weekly
Transcriptionists listen to audio files – such as interviews, conference calls, and podcasts – and type out verbatim what they hear. Transcription is one of the best ways to start making money online because there are plenty of legitimate opportunities. Many transcription companies are open to hiring beginners with no experience; however, entry-level typing jobs tend to pay lower.

To get started transcribing, you’ll need professional transcription software to play back the audio so you won’t have to keep starting and stopping it with your mouse. (Get the pro transcription software I use for free here.)
Here are some transcription jobs that pay weekly, most of them via PayPal. Most of these are entry level. Go here to see my list of higher-paying transcription jobs.
Allegis Transcription
This legal transcription company hires U.S.-based transcriptionists and pays weekly by direct deposit. Transcriptionists can log onto the platform whenever they’re available and claim audio files to work on. Allegis currently only hires transcriptionists with experience.
Athreon
This transcription company hires general, legal, and medical transcriptionists in the U.S. and Canada. They require proof of graduation from a transcription training program or a minimum of two years of experience. They have work available 24/7, and payment is weekly via PayPal.
Audio Transcription Center
Reviewers on Glassdoor say this general transcription agency has friendly management and is a flexible company to work for. One reviewer states that they pay $60 per audio hour. Payment is weekly. To apply, fill out their online application.
Babbletype
Babbletype hires freelancers to work on transcription, proofreading, and translation jobs. They pay weekly via PayPal.
CastingWords
This general transcription company is easy to sign up for and hires freelancers around the world. They pay once a week via PayPal. One Glassdoor reviewer states that average pay is $0.17 per audio minute.
Daily Transcription
This transcription company provides general, legal, and entertainment transcription. They hire transcriptionists within the U.S. and Canada but will consider international candidates for subtitling, captioning, and translation jobs. Reviews on Glassdoor for this company are generally positive, with freelancers stating that work is fairly steady and that typical rates are $0.75 per audio minute. Pay is weekly by check. To apply, you’ll need to take an audio transcription test.
eScribers
This legal transcription company hires transcriptionists within the U.S. Online reviews from freelance staff are generally positive and one Indeed review claims the company has steady work. They prefer to hire candidates with legal transcription experience. eScribers pays weekly.
GoTranscript
This general transcription service hires worldwide, and they do hire beginners with no experience. They pay a max rate of $0.60 per audio minute. Payment is weekly via PayPal.
Quicktate
This company provides general, legal, and medical transcription. They hire beginners who reside worldwide. Pay rates are a quarter cent per word for general transcription and a half cent per word for medical transcription. Payment is weekly via PayPal.
Rev
This well-known general transcription and captioning company has plenty of work available, and they hire beginners around the world. Rev pays an average of $0.50 per audio minute, and payments are weekly via PayPal. To apply, you’ll need to take a transcription test.
Scribie
Scribie pays $5-$25 per audio hour. You can withdraw your earnings to your PayPal account at any time – there is no minimum withdrawal limit. You’ll receive the funds in your PayPal account in one business day. Scribie pays a monthly bonus of five dollars for every three hours of audio transcribed each month. To qualify as a transcriber for Scribie, you need a verified PayPal account.
Speechpad
This company hires transcriptionists, captioners, and translators. They pay twice weekly via PayPal, on Tuesdays and Fridays, in U.S. dollars. One Glassdoor reviewer stated that the jobs pay $0.20-$0.75 per audio minute. Speechpad hires internationally.
TranscribeMe
This transcription company hires internationally. They pay $15-$22 per audio hour. They have steady work, and they pay weekly every Thursday with PayPal as long as you have at least $20 in your available balance.
Content writing and editing jobs that pay weekly
Writing for content mills and marketing agencies is another way that many people get their first online job. Freelance writers are needed more than ever because tremendous amounts of digital content are being produced constantly, and the demand for content just continues to increase. The typical kinds of content that you’ll work on as a freelance writer or editor include blog posts, webpages, social media posts, newsletters, e-books, product descriptions, white papers, press releases, academic essays, and book manuscripts.
The following companies offer online jobs for writers, and they pay weekly. Some of them also hire editors and proofreaders. Check out my recent post for many more online proofreading jobs.
Domainite (hires writers and editors)
This marketing and web design company hires freelance writers and editors. Pay rate is $1 per 100 words for writers and $0.25 per 100 words for proofreaders. They pay weekly with PayPal. To apply, you’ll need to complete a writing or proofreading sample on their website.
HireWriters.com
As long as English is your first language, you can sign up for this company and start claiming writing jobs to work on. They accept writers from the United States, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, and New Zealand. This is a lower-paying content site: Pay rates range from $2.25-$10.66 for a 300- to 500-word article, depending on your skill level. Payment is every Friday via PayPal, as long as you have a balance of at least $10 in earnings.
iWriter
iWriter hires beginners around the world, but they’re known to be one of the lowest-paying content mills. As a writer on this platform, you’ll get paid 65 percent of the price of assignments. Pay rates vary depending on your writer level, which is determined by your writing ability. Their website states, “For example, a writer may earn $2.15 for a 500-word article as a “Standard” writer but could earn $25.35 for a 500-word article as an “Elite Plus” writer.” Payments are sent out every Tuesday via PayPal, as long you’ve reached the minimum payment threshold of $20. OnlineWritingJobs.com
Formerly QualityGal.com, OnlineWritingJobs.com hires freelance writers to write SEO content in the United States. Their writers can choose the content they want to write from a list of available writing projects. Payments are weekly on Fridays (there’s a minimum payout balance of $15). Pay rates range from $15-$50 per article. Payment is by PayPal or check. To apply, you’ll need to fill out an online application and submit a writing sample.
Reedsy (hires writers and editors)
This London-based author services platform works kind of like Upwork, but caters to the self-publishing industry, connecting authors with editors and other publishing professionals. As an editor on Reedsy, you receive requests from author clients, set your own rates, and collaborate with clients via the Reedsy platform. You are also able to create a payment schedule with multiple installments at project milestones. Payments are then made to you automatically, so you never have to chase clients for money. Reedsy charges a service fee of 10 percent of your earnings for using the platform. To apply, sign up for free and create a profile. If your application is accepted, your editor profile will become available to clients.
SteadyContent (hires writers and editors)
This company hires freelance writers to produce SEO-optimized blog posts, webpages, and press releases. The company pays writers between 2 and 2.5 cents per word. They also hire editors. One review on Indeed states, “The only downside is the pay is entry level ($10 per 450 words), but the work is pretty easy so if you can type fast you make a decent rate, I end up making about $20/hr.” Payments are made every Friday. Their main payment method is Stripe, but they can also send payments through PayPal. To apply as a writer, you’ll need to take an English writing skills test and write a sample article. To apply as an editor, you’ll need to complete an editing test.
The Content Authority
The Content Authority is a content mill that hires freelancers to write blog content, website copy, e-books, press releases, etc. You must have a PayPal account to write for them. Like many content mills, pay rates with The Content Authority vary based on your tier ranking as a writer. Reviews on Indeed claim that the site pays around a cent a word, which is on the low end. You can request to have your work reviewed when you feel you’re ready to get a tier increase. Payments go out every Monday via PayPal (the minimum payment threshold is $25). To apply, fill out the online application form and writing prompt.
The Content Panel
This content and blog writing company uses machine learning and AI technology to match clients with the best freelance writers for their project. As a writer for The Content Panel, you can log in to the job board and claim any writing jobs that their “Panel Brain” algorithm has preapproved for you. To write for them, you’ll need a verified PayPal account and knowledge of SEO content writing. Pay ranges from around $2 per 100 words at the low end, up to $8 per 100 words at the high end. Most of their writers start at $3-$5 per 100 words. Most posts have a deadline of 72 hours or longer from when you claim the job, but if you can submit your work faster, their Panel Brain algorithm will favor you for more jobs in the future. Additionally, clients will rate your work, and Panel Brain uses this feedback to decide what jobs to send to you in the future. The Content Panel has editors working for them as well, but they’re selected from writers who have established themselves with the company. The Content Panel pays its freelancers every Monday through PayPal, and they cover the PayPal fees. There is no minimum payout threshold. To apply, fill out the online application.
The HOTH
The HOTH is an SEO agency that hires freelance writers to write SEO content. They pay $16 for a 500-word article, $28 for a 1,000-word article, $38 for a 1,500-word article, and $50 for a 2,000-word article. They have plenty of work available. To apply, you’ll need to submit at least two writing samples. They pay via PayPal every Monday.
Verblio (formerly BlogMutt)
Formerly BlogMutt, Verblio hires writers to produce blog posts, newsletters, web content, ebooks, white papers, and more. On the Verblio platform, clients post requests for specific content, and you claim assignments. The client may choose to purchase your work or not. To write for Verblio you must be a U.S. citizen; however, you are free to do the work from overseas if you choose. Pay starts at $10.50 for a 300- to 400-word blog post. There are different levels of pay depending on your skill level, and you can work your way up – this writer went from an average of $60 per week in sales to well over $300. Work is always available, and you decide when and how much you want to work. Verblio is open to hiring beginners with no experience. The company pays every Monday via PayPal. To apply, you’ll need to complete a grammar test and a written sample.
Online tutoring and teaching jobs that pay weekly
If you have good communication skills, consider getting a rewarding and well-paying online job as a tutor. Typical pay rates for online tutors range from $15-26 per hour. Although ESL tutoring is the most common type of online teaching job, some positions require you to teach specific subjects.
Most online tutoring jobs require a degree or teaching certification and previous teaching experience, but there are a few that just require fluency in English. Each online tutoring company has its own application process. Applicants are typically asked to fill out an online application and record a demo lesson.
The companies below hire online tutors, and they pay weekly, most of them via PayPal.
Cambly
This company hires tutors to help people around the world improve their English language skills. It appears they hire tutors from the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. They are one of the few tutoring companies that doesn’t require a teaching certificate, degree, or prior teaching experience. They pay per minute you spend teaching, with rates ranging from $0.17 per minute ($10.20 per hour) on Cambly and $0.20 per minute ($12 per hour) on Cambly Kids. Payment is every Monday via PayPal.
VIPKid
This company hires ESL tutors in the U.S. and Canada to teach children in China aged 4 to 12. You don’t need to speak any Chinese, as classes are full English immersion. Earnings are based on the number of classes you teach, so the more classes you teach, the more you can earn. The base pay rate is $7-$9 per 25-minute class ($14-$22 per hour). You can choose to receive payments via PayPal or have them sent directly to your bank account. You can choose to be paid weekly, biweekly, or monthly. To teach for VIPKid, you need a bachelor’s degree (in any field) and at least two years of tutoring experience. The application process involves recording a short video demo lesson.
Wyzant
Wyzant connects tutors with students who need help in a wide variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and even music. As a tutor for Wyzant, you set up a profile showcasing your qualifications and experience, as well as your hourly rate. Students choose their own instructor. Active tutors receive over two tutoring job opportunities per week. Payment is by direct deposit. You can choose to receive payment semimonthly, or else receive express direct deposit payments, which are processed three to five business days after a lesson is entered. Wyzant charges a service fee of 25 percent for using their platform. Tutors must reside in the U.S. The company does not require tutors to be certified teachers, so this is a beginner-friendly gig.
Crowdsourcing sites that pay weekly
“Crowdsourcing” lets companies take a large project, divide it up into many smaller pieces (often called “microtasks”), and assign it to a large group of freelancers to complete the work quickly and cheaply. Typical microtasks include writing, transcribing, translating, researching, data processing, and surveys.
Crowd jobs tend to hire freelancers worldwide, and they’re usually easy to get started with – in many cases, all you need to do is sign up, provide the company with your PayPal email address, and start working! The downside is that the pay is notoriously low, so this kind of work is usually not feasible for North American workers other than for beer money.
The following crowdsourcing sites hire freelancers, and they pay weekly, most of them with PayPal.
Clickworker
This company hires workers in many different countries to work on small tasks such as writing, translating, researching, and data processing. Their standard payment method is PayPal; however, if PayPal is not available in your country, they may use Transferwise as an alternative. Direct payment is available in countries that are part of SEPA. Most jobs are payable after seven days, as long as your account balance exceeds five euro. Tasks range anywhere from cent amounts to two-digit euro amounts.
User testing jobs that pay weekly
User testing companies hire remote workers to “test drive” websites and mobile apps and provide feedback about how user friendly they are. As a user tester, you’ll record yourself completing a set of tasks on a website or app while talking about your experience with it. Typical pay rates range from $10-$60 per website test, and most tests only take 5-25 minutes to complete.
To apply as a user tester, you’ll usually be required to successfully complete a sample test. Then the company will email you when assignments become available.
Many user testing companies hire testers around the world. The following companies offer user testing jobs, and they pay weekly, most of them via PayPal.
TryMyUI
As a usability tester for TryMyUi, you’ll be paid $10 per 20-minute test. Payments go out every Friday via PayPal, after your tests are accepted. (If you’re doing one of their tests through MTurk, you’ll be paid immediately upon acceptance of the test.)
UserFeel
UserFeel pays $10 per test. User testers receive payment about one week after the test. You can choose whether you want to receive PayPal funds or an Amazon gift card. It appears they hire testers in a wide variety of countries.
Online surveys and cashback apps that pay on request
Cashback and rewards apps are developed by market research companies to collect data about consumer buying habits. This information is used to help brands improve their products and services.
Using rewards apps, you can get special deals and even earn a bit of cash doing things like taking surveys, surfing the web, playing games, watching videos, or shopping online.
Although the rewards programs listed here are legit, they are a slower way to make money. If you regularly play games on your cell phone or shop online or browse the web, you could use rewards apps to make a bit of passive income every month.
The following two sites offer legitimate paid survey and cash rewards opportunities, and you can cash out as soon as you reach the minimum threshold.

Survey Junkie is one of the most popular legitimate paid survey opportunities. You can either cash out with PayPal or Dwolla or redeem your points for gift cards (Walmart, Amazon, Visa, etc.). Direct bank transfers are also available if you live in the U.S.
To start making money with surveys on Survey Junkie, sign up and create your profile, and they’ll match you with surveys.
Other ways you can make money on Survey Junkie include referring friends, participating in focus groups, or surfing the web on desktop or mobile. Your browsing data is anonymized and used to measure trends in consumer behaviors.
One nice thing about Survey Junkie is that they have a lower payout threshold than most rewards apps. You can cash out once you’ve reached 500 points, or the equivalent of $5.
